PUTT·PRO

Your putting stroke, measured.

Prop your phone up, hit five putts, and find out what your stroke actually does — not what it feels like it does.

back · 2 through · 1
The stroke you are looking for: twice as long going back as it takes coming down, and the same length either side of the ball.

Takes about ten minutes. Nothing is uploaded — the video is processed on your phone and then discarded.

What the baseline covers

  1. Set the phone up

Face on, level with your hands, about two metres away. The app shows you a framing guide.

  2. Hit five putts from six feet

One recording, five strokes. Putt as you normally would, not as you think you should.

  3. Read what your stroke did

Tempo, stroke length either side of the ball, head and body movement, and how much all of it varied.

  4. Work on the three things that matter

You get a short practice session built around your biggest fault. Come back, film it again, and see whether it moved.

What it can and cannot see

A phone camera at 30 or 60 frames a second can time your stroke and measure how far things move. That covers tempo, acceleration through the ball, and how still you stay — which is where most putts are lost.

It cannot measure face angle or path to a fraction of a degree. A putt from six feet misses if the face is one degree open, and no phone resolves that reliably. If you want those numbers you need a launch monitor. Everything here is something the camera can genuinely see.

Set the phone up

No tripod? Lean the phone against a bag, a bin or a spare putter. It only needs to be steady, not perfect.

    Five putts, one recording

Stand so your whole body fits inside the dashed box.

    Reading the clip

    Starting up

This runs on your phone, so it takes a moment. Keep the screen on.

    Where did they finish?

The camera watched your stroke but has no idea what the ball did. Five taps and it can tell the difference between a stroke fault and an aiming fault.
